Time Won't Give Us Time

“Time won’t give us time,” according to the song “Time” by the 1980’s band “Culture Club.” It is the one resource that is non-renewable; it is here today and gone tomorrow. Time does not wait for anyone nor does it make us a better version of ourselves down the road; it just makes us older or, what I preferred, an older but wiser version of ourselves. Therefore, what we do with the time we have left, and it varies among every individual, is to use it the best way we can before it runs out. I have spent a considerable time in the first half of my life literally wasting time in the trivial pursuit of trying to find my way and place in this world, attempting to redefine who I am a few times, only to find out who I really am and who I am really not. Like everything in life, the identities of who we thought we want to be is as fleeting as time itself.
